Starting a course between 31 August 2026 and 31 December 2026
If a student is starting a full-time undergraduate course between 31 August 2026 and 31 December 2026, they can apply for student finance from late March 2026.
Starting a course on or after 1 January 2027
If a student is starting a higher education course on or after 1 January 2027, they can apply for student finance from September 2026.
University or college
Students studying at an eligible university or college can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £9,790. Students starting an Accelerated Degree course can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £11,750.
Foundation years
Students studying an eligible foundation year in a classroom-based subject, like business, social science or humanities can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £6,525.
Students studying an eligible foundation year in science, engineering, subjects allied to medicine and creative and performing arts can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £9,790.

Erasmus+, Turing Scheme or Taith
Students who are on Erasmus+, Turing Scheme or Taith scheme and are either studying or on a work placement abroad can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £1,465.
You cannot apply for more than one of these grants to cover the same expenses.
Studying abroad
Students studying abroad (with less than 10 weeks spent at their university in England) can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £1,465.
Work placement year of a sandwich course
Students on a work placement year of a sandwich course (with less than 10 weeks spent at their university in England) can get a Tuition Fee Loan of up to £1,955.
