Lifelong Learning Entitlement

Find out more about LLE on GOV.UK

The Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) is the new student finance system for courses that start on or after 1 January 2027. It is replacing the previous higher education and some further education funding. LLE will be available for full years of study at levels 4 to 6, including HTQs and degree qualifications as well as some postgraduate level qualifications.

The LLE will be available to new and returning students who have previously studied a course or module in higher education. Students who already have funding in place through the current Higher Education student finance system for a course they started before 1 January 2027, will continue to get funding for that course through the current system.

The Department for Education (DFE) have created some resources to help education providers communicate and explain LLE funding to prospective students.
